Pollenize in Action: A Look at Our Diverse Pollinator Conservation Efforts

From humble beginnings in 2018, Pollenize has blossomed into a leading pollinator conservation organisation. Our mission to protect these vital creatures encompasses a diverse range of initiatives. We understand this variety might seem complex, so we're here to provide a clear overview.

Pollenize offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to empower communities, fuel groundbreaking research, and ultimately, create a positive impact on our ecosystems. In this blog post, we'll delve into the exciting ways we're working with the public and organisations to ensure a brighter future for pollinators.

CORPORATE AND INDIVIDUAL BEEKEEPING MEMBERSHIPS PROGRAMS

We invite businesses and  individuals to become supporting members and participate in our beekeeping and honey initiatives. Our community hive schemes foster a sense of connection with pollinator health while ensuring the responsible management of apiaries.

CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH

Pollenize is at the forefront of pollinator research, utilising a network of AI-powered moth boxes and beehives. Our advanced technology facilitates biodiversity research,  pollen analysis, and groundbreaking research into waggle dance communication and pollinator genetics.

HABITAT RESTORATION

Recognising the importance of diverse ecosystems, Pollenize offers wildflower seed packets, allowing individuals and organisations to create pollinator-friendly havens (co branded seed packets available) . Once the wildflower seeds have been planted, people can upload their sowing location to an interactive seed map on our website, meaning they are actively contributing to our vital research to better understand the floral diversity across the country. We also facilitate the creation of vital insect habitats through bug hotel installations together with public engagement signage and wildflower meadow establishment within organisational and public spaces.

EDUCATIONAL SCHEMES

Recognising the importance of fostering environmental awareness in future generations, Pollenize offers engaging school programs. From story reading, wildflower planting, bioblitz surveys or Q and A sessions with our beekeeper, these interactive experiences spark a passion for pollinators and inspire young minds to become stewards of the environment.

COMMUNITY SCIENCE INITIATIVES

Pollenize actively engages communities in scientific exploration through Bioblitz surveys. These collaborative events, conducted alongside schools and organisations, enhance wellbeing and provide valuable information on local pollinator populations.

ADVANCED BIODIVERSITY TRACKING WITH FLORADEX

Pollenize goes beyond traditional Bioblitz surveys. We offer Floradex, a cutting-edge, AI-powered biodiversity tracking tool. Developed with the university of Plymouth, Floradex leverages land data –  collected from Bioblitz surveys or previously acquired –  to generate comprehensive ecological insights and prescribe the next best planting solution. (We stock 100s of native wildflower seeds). This innovative approach provides landowners, developers and businesses with an easy and effective solution for creating healthy habitats for pollinators.

ASIAN HORNET ACTION

Pollenize actively addresses the threat posed by invasive Asian hornets. We employ innovative technology, artificial intelligence, and citizen science solutions to combat these destructive pests and protect native bee populations.

Nest Sweeper is a high-tech bait station/ ai app combo that changes how we track Asian hornets. It uses a new method to attract the hornets, making it more effective than typical traps. This cutting-edge approach improves early detection of Asian hornets, setting a new standard in pest control technology.
