We at Pollenize are buzzing with excitement about the Chaddlewood Bioboost Project! This collaborative effort aims to transform the Chaddlewood area into a haven for nature and a place where the community can connect with the wonders of the environment.

We smashed our initial fundraising goals thanks to the generosity of 35 incredible supporters who donated a total of £8,643 in just 28 days! This, along with a significant contribution from Plymouth City Council, allows us to keep the momentum going.

We're still accepting donations via our Crowdfunder page to fund bioblitz events, those thrilling citizen science gatherings where everyone works together to identify as many species as possible in a short time. We hope to also use these funds to provide wildflower seed packets to local schools, helping to spread the love for these vital plants with the next generation of environmental stewards.

The importance of this project can't be overstated. Since the 1930s, a staggering 98% of wildflower meadows in the UK have vanished. This loss has had a devastating impact on pollinators like bees and butterflies, and overall biodiversity has suffered. The Chaddlewood Bioboost Project is a step towards reversing this trend.

By mid-March, our team was already out in force, prepping the ground and sowing wildflower seeds in four designated locations. We've also installed informative signage to educate the public about the project and encourage them to participate in these exciting citizen science initiatives.

The positive response from the Chaddlewood and the further community has been heartwarming. Thank you to Plymouth Chronicle for covering the news!

This initiative builds upon the success of the 'Chaddlewood Subways Project,' where local artist Mrs Murals brightened subways with environmentally-friendly messages. Both projects contribute to creating a more welcoming and sustainable environment in Chaddlewood.

We look forward monitoring the progress of the wildflower minimeadows and continuing our work with the Chaddlewood community to collaborate on future initiatives. Together, we can transform Plymouth into a greener, healthier city where nature thrives and the community flourishes. Let's make Plymouth bloom!
