Our Alignment with the National Pollinator Strategy
At Pollenize, our focus goes far beyond the conservation of the threatened native European Dark Honey Bee (Apis mellifera mellifera). We are also committed to promoting, protecting and learning more about all wild pollinators including solitary bees, butterflies and hoverflies.
We take pride in aligning our work with the UK’s National Pollinator Strategy. This means we are forming partnerships with the public, landowners, voluntary groups, businesses and local authorities to inspire green initiatives all whilst creating a more pollinator friendly city.
The 5 key areas of focus include
Supporting pollinators on farmland
Supporting pollinators across towns, cities and the countryside
Enhancing the response to pest and disease risks
Raising awareness of what pollinators need to survive and thrive
Improving evidence on the status of pollinators and the service they provide

Our community beekeeping scheme has allowed us to develop ground breaking research on the honey bee which informs us about our local forage and indeed floral gaps.
As part of our research and development, we combine government informed data on popular plants for key pollinators with pollen DNA analysis from our honeybees. This allows us monitor the crossover of interaction between different pollinator species and plants. It is from this research we are able to refine our rewilding seed packet recipes in order to plant better for all pollinators and boost biodiversity!
